2002-04-28 - 1:19 a.m. Steubenville The gravel ate away at my knees, as I knelt on that hard pavement. Sweat poured off my brow, staining my face like tears. Around me, peole knelt of stood, their eyes closed, their faces a mask of pain, Peace. A voice echoed behind me, singing without melody, chanting without words. I looked up and saw nothing, but I felt a wave of joy flood my heart, like the melting of the snows in spring. I believed. A cool wind brushed against my face, and I began to pray, for the first time. The Holy Spirit burned within my heart and I surrendered to it. It still burns there, bright as a candle in the dark.
